What if I can’t visualise?

Some people find it hard or even can’t ‘see’ a mental picture. If this happens to you don’t worry. As with so many things in life it is with practice that it becomes possible. Try imagining past experiences, a nice meal you had; your favourite room; a beach you visited; a family event; a works outing or replay a scene from movie you love in your mind. Find something that is easy for you to recreate in your mind. As you do try and recall as much details as you can, the colours, smells, feelings, scenes, characters, people you met, types of furniture, the texture of the sand, the food, the clothes you wore. Try and recall as much as you can. As you practice on things you have already experienced it will become easier when trying to create something new for yourself.

We are all capable of visualisation and imagination. The difference is how each of us build the images we see. The thing to remember is whatever you see will have meaning to you.

Try this. Close your eyes and imagine a chair. Now did you see a chair or did you think of what a chair looks like? It doesn’t really matter as the end results are the same because you were able to imagine a chair either through an image or through your thoughts.

Imagination is the ability of forming mental images, sensations and concepts when they are not perceived through our senses. Imagination is a faculty through which we often encounter our world. We use it when we touch, smell, taste, see and hear. We coalesce what we receive through our senses into thoughts, feelings, emotions and images.

If you like reading what images come into your mind when the author is describing a scene? What images or thoughts come up when reading articles in magazines or newspapers?

Have you ever had someone read to you? Storytelling is a great way to train your imagination. When you daydream you are visualising or using your imagination.

Why not find a book and read a small passage from it and see what images, thoughts, feelings and emotions it stirs up. This will give you an indication on how you see things in your minds eye.

Creative Visualisation

Creative visualisation is a practise of using your thoughts to deliberately create an experience or outcome as you want it to be. You create the desired outcome in your mind before it has actually occurred. It is a technique of using your imagination to create what you want in life.

Worry Sheets

Worry is the negative, anticipated potential of an outcome that hasn’t yet been experienced in the present.

When we worry we engage in a chain of thoughts and/or images of a negative and uncontrollable nature about something we have not yet experienced. We ‘imagine’ what the outcome will be.

Muscle Testing

muscle_testing_lrg_greenWhat is Muscle Testing ?

Muscle testing is a method we use to uncover hidden beliefs, feelings and emotions we hold about ourselves. As the response is coming from our Subconscious mind (inner child) which can’t lie muscle testing has proved to be a valuable tool to uncovering our beliefs, emotions and feelings which we would otherwise not know we have. Once uncovered, we can then change them to our advantage, allowing us to move our lives on the way we want.Read More

Gratitude turns the bad things into good. How often do you hear individuals complaining about problems at work? Be grateful for your job; the money coming in at the end of each month and the challenges you have. There is always something to be grateful for even when things don’t seem to be going that well.Read More

affirmations_lrg_greenWhat are Affirmations?

Affirmations are positive statements made in the present tense designed to counteract a negative belief you currently hold. Affirmations support the changes you want to make in your life by directing ‘positive affirmed’ statements based on the area in your life you want to change. This is achieved by the repetition of these affirmation phrases. They can have profound effects as the changes start to take hold and break through your limiting thoughts and beliefs.Read More
